Man has long been a part of Alberta's foothills region. The areas has been trapped, hunted and inhabited for tthousands of years. There is something in the essence and landscape of the area that draws one to be embraced by the eastern slopes.
Many are passionate about this region of the Rockies. There are those who believe that this area of the foothills needs to be protected. AFOC, however, believes that the area needs to be managed in a way to allow man to use the resources in a responsible way. Man is part of the ecosystem.
History has shown good management practices by the Mountain Métis, guides, outfitters, trappers and the indigenous people.
