There is an essence of the foothills and the mountains. Simply put, it is good for the soul, whether you are out there hiking, picking flowers or hunting for game.
Man is rejuvenated by this essence and needs that connection for his well being. Maurice Nadeau former President of Alberta Fish & Game Association once said, "It makes me feel alive to be out there. It is a special feeling that I can't get anywhere else."
Many authors and poets have written about the eastern slopes of the Rockies. It has moved many great artists to paint and many photographers to try to capture the images and beauty. Yet there is nothing like the "real deal." No picture, art, nor poem can truly capture the spirit and essence of this magnificent place.
AFOC is dedicated to ensuring access for all Albertans and to promote responsible use of the region. When traveling through the eastern slopes, you can feel a love of
the land, wildlife and the universe. We need to access this area for future generations, and AFOC is committed to act as an advocate for the eastern slopes. We represent a voice of the people who need to interact with the essence of the foothills.
